HELP AND OBSTACLE!

In her youth ShortEye had hated her glasses: At that time she had found herself rather ugly with them and she had been frequently laughed at. During sports the glasses had been an obstacle and it had been especially annoying, if the glasses had misted up, when entering a room in winter. She had to stop in the entrance area to clean the glasses. Only afterwards orientation was possible. She had already tried to use contact lenses, but without avail: There had been a constant foreign body sensation in the eye! After some time even the specialist for contact lenses had to agree that - at that time - there were no adequate contact lenses for her, which also ensured the sufficient oxygen supply of the eye.

The measuring of the dioptre value at the opthalmic examination also meant a lot of stress. She was able to accomodate for a short time with her own eye lenses, that means that she was able to see certain parts rather clear for a short time, also the signs on the eye chart. Thus, she never knew whether the glasses were correct. Only some time after the receipt of the prescribed glasses she knew it. If the glasses were too strong, she had headaches. Therefore, she preferred glasses with less dioptres, even if she had a bad eyesight with them.

Only at being an adult, she found a doctor who understood the situation. „No problem!“ he said. „I add a drop of medicine to the eye so that you are not able to accomodate.“ It was done as he said.

A short while afterwards ShortEye made a walk with WideEye, wearing her new glasses: Normally, WideEye explained distant things to ShortEye. He knew, that ShortEye could not see in the distance and he was considerate. But this time it was different. Beaming with joy, ShortEye exclaimed: „I see it! The wind turbine there on the horizon. The colours of the surroundings are also much stronger than before. After many many years I have now glasses which fit. Yippie!“ WideEye was happy with ShortEye for her new sense of life and seeing.
